I just recently purchased a Satco S9750 30W LED HID Replacement 5000 K Medium Base Adjustable Beam Angle 100-277V Light Bulb, under the assumption it would work in a traditional light socket.
I tried it in my garage light socket (which previously had a 60W light bulb in it working just fine, and ... nothing.
Took it out and tried it in another socket in the house, and it worked fine.
Got out my multimeter and tested both sockets, and while they both power to 120VAC while switched on, the socket in the garage is still sending ~35V through when off while in the house the socket goes to 0V when off.
Any advice on what to do? I assume the difference in 'off' voltage could be causing the problem, but not knowledgeable enough to understand how to fix it.
Thanks in advance,
My assumption is that the Garage Light is on some sort of control like a motion sensor. The S9750 has protective circuitry that will shut the lamp down if it feels there is an electrical problem in the circuit.
If it is the motion sensor, the solution would be to use an LED rated motion sensor.
If it is not that, the lamp may not be making good contact with the socket. (The lamp base is not seating all the way into the socket) If that is the case, if there is enough room, a medium to medium socket adaptor may help.
